How to Drive to Zimbabwe Viewpoint in Seychelles
Also known as Grand Fond, Zimbabwe Viewpoint is one of Seychelles’ highest and most beautiful views. It looks over all of Praslin’s greenery and to the island of Curieuse. The story goes that France-Albert René wanted to show his sympathy for President Robert Mugabe, which is why the viewpoint is an ode to Zimbabwe.
There are various ways to get to Zimbabwe Viewpoint from everywhere along the island by car. To begin your journey, you’ll have to be on the island of Praslin, as this is where the viewpoint is situated. We’ll assume you’re driving from Baie Sainte Anne, Anse Volbert, or Anse Boudin.

Translated from German, Aussicht auf die Bucht means “view of the bay”. The viewpoint is located close to Anse Boudin and follows a steep, rocky road up to the peak.
How to Drive to Zimbabwe Viewpoint in Praslin, Seychelles
This is how to reach the viewpoint from the city centre (Baie St. Anne), Anse Boudin beach, and Anse Volbert beach.
From Baie St. Anne (Praslin City Centre)
From your accommodation, drive to ISPC Supermarket and keep following the long, straight main road, past the Heyday shopping centre and the Open Beach gym until you reach an intersection, where you’ll have to keep going straight or take a left.
Turn left and drive through the cluster of accommodations (from Vincvilla to Cote ‘dOr Apartments), not taking any turns as you drive through the Praslin city centre. Keep along the main road, driving straight on until you reach Pasquerre Beach. Drive past Raffles and Anse Boudin Beach, again staying on the large main road.
When you reach the bus stop, turn left onto the other main road. Then, you’ll follow a windy road past Maison Du Soleil self-catering accommodation (the road might get a bit steep here), aiming to stay on the path to the government office– Zugangs Tor – and your summit. Along the steep road, pull over anywhere you feel comfortable and look over the Bay.
From Anse Boudin
Start at the gift shop (Souvenirs Langar Pirogue) until the main road forces you to veer left. Keep driving up the main road, taking the left main road when faced with a choice at Villa Manoir. Keep driving up the main road – when the road begins to get more steep, you’re headed in the right direction. When you’re ready, pull over and start taking pictures – you did it!
From Anse Volbert
From your accommodation, drive past Cafe des Arts and continue straight until you’ve driven past Anse Petit Cour. Continue on, passing the Pasquerre hiking trail and Raffles (don’t turn into the road going to Raffles). When you reach the Souvenirs Langar Pirogue gift shop, take a left onto the next main road.
Keep driving up this road, not taking any other smaller or rockier-looking roads. The road might start getting steeper, which means you’re on your way to the Viewpoint. If you follow the end of the road, you’ll reach a set of metal gates – a Seychelles government building. You should pull over at any spot before this to fully take in the view.
